Our Organisation
The International School of English (ISE) was set up in 1972 by the
Ministry of Education with the objective of providing courses in English
for foreign students. The University of Malta took over the school in April
1998 and has expanded its services considerably. Today ISE
caters for large numbers of students of all ages throughout the year.
We offer courses in General English as well as courses in English for Specific
Purposes (ESP), which are tailored to the participantsí requirements.
ISE is managed by Malta University Services and our courses are held
on the most attractive University of Malta campus, providing the students
with the opportunity of enjoying a University life-style during their studies.
Teaching Methods
The teaching approach at ISE evolves around the needs of the student
and in the context of English as a medium of international communication
for education, business and pleasure.
ISE makes use of the latest published materials, as well as develops
its own teaching and learning resources. These are constantly updated
in line with current TEFL methodologies.
We pride ourselves in providing a stimulating learning environment
through the use of pair work, discussion groups, role play, language games,
debates, audio and video material, formal presentations and other pedagogical
approaches, to enrich the learning situation.
Teaching staff
All our teachers are professionally trained teachers of English holding
University degrees as well as other recognized certificates and diplomas
in the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language. They all have a
vast experience in teaching English to foreigners, and they keep abreast
with current TEFL trends through periodic in-service courses.
